Description
Palang or Jandhom is a wooden container traditionally used mostly for storing Ara (locally brewed alcohol). It is often made out of bamboo, horn, or wood and is decorated with brass rings or other metals, making it an exquisite piece.
Alcohol being an important part of ceremonial drinks in Bhutan, in the eastern villages of Bhutan it is customary for the ladies of the village to welcome the guests and serve them locally brewed alcohol or Ara in Palang. It is a pride for them to own one. It also serves as a home decorative piece.
